ONE TEST CHANGES EVERYTHING

SEPDETECT: SEPSIS TESTING IN 60s

Routine tests for sepsis involve taking multiple venous draws- the relatively large volume of blood these require limits the frequency with which they can be performed, and thus the degree to which potential sepsis can be tracked. Decreasing the volume of circulating blood in this manner also increases the risk of shock (dangerous drops in blood pressure), which sepsis already increases the risk of. In addition, some tests such as bacterial blood cultures take days to complete- but sepsis can kill in hours.

SepDetect is different: in phase 3 randomised double-blind clinical trials on actual septic patients and a control group, it was determined to have a sensitivity and specificity of 99% and 100% respectively, well above the 95% recommended for clinical usage. These statistics have been validated by external researchers (peer-reviewed). It is completed in less than 60 seconds from beginning to end, and only requires a few millilitres of blood. SepDetect is also extremely well-tolerated as the only contact with a patient is with a pre-impregnated cotton swab: no more big bad needles.

STEP 1: SAMPLE COLLECTION

SepDetect only requires one drop of blood, either from a small needle-prick to the fingertip or from an exposed wound if suspected septic.

Simply rinse the area with 70% isopropyl alcohol to sterilise it, and swab with the SepDetect swabs- these are pre-impregnated with a chemical load that starts working straight away.

TESLA: INTUITIVE AND ACCURATE

Tesla is the result of 10 years of innovation from Therasis. Designed to measure fluorescence at the specific wavelength of the reporter (fluorescent) protein from the genetic construct embedded in the swab, Tesla is able to deliver the most accurate sepsis test on the market for a number of reasons- all while being small enough to fit onto a countertop.

It is linked via the internet to Therasis' servers, meaning that any updates are automatically applied to guarantee the most accurate testing possible. The unit auto-runs diagnostics regularly, and any faults will be fixed remotely via our technicians: alternatively, in person if required, within 24 hours- guaranteed. As part of each testing cycle Tesla will automatically calibrate itself, meaning that all the clinician has to do is load the sample and press go. And while sample swabs/tubes themselves cost a fraction of any other sepsis tests on the market, keeping consumable costs low, Therasis retains ownership of each machine so there is no up front cost of purchase- we take care of the maintenance, you take care of the patients.

Tesla: quicker, faster, cheaper.
